Two backcountry skiers crossing a wide snow bowl on Asahidake in Daisetsuzan, Central Hokkaido

Hokkaido Powder Safari: Furano & Kamikawa Backcountry Ski Tour

A tailor-made backcountry safari for private groups who want more than eight days in Central Hokkaido. Two bases, Furano and Kamikawa, one guide team, and an itinerary built around your group and the snow.

Ski Furano and Kamikawa in One Tailor-Made Central Hokkaido Trip

One week shows you one side of Central Hokkaido. The Powder Safari gives your group both. You ski the volcanoes and birch forests around Furano, Tokachidake and Furanodake, then move north to Kamikawa for the steeper lines of Kurodake and Asahidake in Daisetsuzan National Park.

Every safari is bespoke. There are no fixed dates and no fixed programme: your group picks the dates and the number of days, and we design the route, the lodges and the pace around you.

How We Build Your Bespoke Hokkaido Ski Safari

01

Tell Us About Your Group

How many of you, your dates, how many days you want to ski, your touring experience and what a great trip looks like for you.

02

We Design the Itinerary

We propose the split between Furano and Kamikawa, the lodges, the guide team and a tailor-made quote, and adjust it with you until it fits.

03

We Follow the Snow

Once you are here, each day’s zone is chosen that morning from the weather, the avalanche conditions and how the group is feeling.

Food & Lodge Accommodation in Furano and Kamikawa

On a long trip the lodge matters as much as the skiing. Your group stays at our own lodges in both regions, with home-cooked breakfasts, a mix of traditional Japanese food and meals to suit any diet, and a living room to share at the end of the day.

Hokkaido Powder Safari FAQ

Questions groups ask before a long ski trip to Japan.

What is the Hokkaido Powder Safari?

The Powder Safari is a tailor-made backcountry ski and snowboard trip of more than eight days that combines our two bases in Central Hokkaido: Furano and Kamikawa. Your group skis the Tokachidake and Furanodake side first or last, moves lodge once, and rides Kurodake, Asahidake and the north side of Daisetsuzan National Park with the same guide team.

Who is the Powder Safari for?

It is a private tour for groups that are already formed: friends, ski clubs, families or guides travelling with their own clients. It suits riders who want a longer trip in Japan and enough days to follow the snow between Furano and Kamikawa.

How long is the Powder Safari and when does it run?

The safari runs for more than eight days and has no fixed departure dates. Your group chooses its own dates during the Hokkaido winter season and we build the itinerary around them.

How is the trip split between Furano and Kamikawa?

That is part of the tailor-made plan. We agree a split with your group before the trip, based on your dates, your level and what you want to ski, and then choose each day’s zone according to snow, wind and avalanche conditions.

How much does the Powder Safari cost?

Because every safari is bespoke, the price depends on the number of days, the size of your group and the options you choose. Send us an enquiry and we will reply with a tailor-made quote.
